sorry if this is in the wrong section ,i could not find the correcy post
so as things stand ,we drink in a mens social club and have a compition that involves a raffle called play your cards right ,the prize money was about £900 ,my freind won the raffle and then went on to turn all the cards over to win the £900 he was paid a cheque but has bounced ,the commitee said it was down to the entertinments manager hes the one thats stolen the money) and nothing to do with the club.the only problem is over the last year there has been a couple payments of over £1000 and these funds were paid by the club as the preson in charge asked for the club to keep hold of it as it was alot of money, the club is refusing to pay it at the moment as they didnt want to get involved but i dont want to put the club in trouble for something that a stupid individual has done ,
everyone has said go to the police ,will the club get in trouble and how do you think i can go about getting my money that i won and getting the person that stole the money get punished
will i ever see the money?
all advice will help me
thanks

Who did the cheque book belong to that the cheque was issued from? If it was from the clubs bank account then he has stolen funds from the club.
Also if he has done this what else has he done and why aren't the club doing anything about it?0 -
I think you need to speak to a solicitor. Pop down to your local CAB they will have a list of ones that do a free half hour or so. Don't loose the cheque if he was acting as a representative of the club then its probable the club is liable but you need proper legal advice"The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts."

The Cheque Was From His Own Bank Account And We Have Now Found Out Its Now Closed ,so Thinking He Has Dun A Runner ,no One Has Been Able To Contact Him,my Freind Is Keeping The Cheque But Noone Knows Wher They Stand As The Raffle Has Been Held Every Sat For 2 Years
Thanks0 -
so to sum things up it was not the club that run the raffle ,but everyone never knew this we relise that the person in question has left with the money ,but before going to the police would it be in the intrest of the club to pay him or just start procedings against the person that has stolen the money0
