Could some Computer wizard give me some advice on buying a TFT monitor, a 15 or 17" would probably suffice.
I only send emails and surf the net (dont do games) but space on my computer desk is limited and my present CRT monitor leaves room for little else. I have read messages from approximately 1 month ago on here, but perhaps things have changed since then. Aria seems to be a popular supplier buts lots of negative comments, should anything go wrong!!!! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I prefer going to a store rather than buying mail order - easier to see if you can live with the monitor. Worth a look at Comet - they have reasonable prices on Acer LCDs (15" £120, 19" £200). Personally, I'm not too keen on 17" LCDs - the font size/resolution just doesn't work for me. Whether you actually buy from Comet/Dixons/Currys etc certainly worth going for a look (easier to take back if any problems too).
Note that the actual screen size of CRT monitors is around 1" less than their description whereas LCDs are a true size.0 -
yes a 15 inch TFT can be have a usuable area nearly as big as some 17inch CRTs
While I subscribe to the 'You can't have too much screen' view I suspect that 15inch will be enough for you esp if you currently have a 15inch CRT
If you aren't into games then response time becomes less critical
Personally I would happily buy on the web and there are some super deals out there at the moment inc Aria or NovatechTANSTAAFL !0 -
Theres' a 15" widescreen TFT on offer at mo at Aria for £111.
No longer a user, goodbye folks. PLEASE delete my account. Thank you0
