PLEASE PLEASE think very very carefully before obtaining a secured loan, I am not trying to frighten you here, but to state facts - your home can be repossessed if you cannot meet the repayments. I would strongly advise you to contact the debt charity CCCS http://www.cccs.co.uk/ and seek their advice, they are free, independent and fantastic. They could help to negotiate with your creditors to possibly freeze the interest if you are finding things difficult just now.
 I hope this helps.

The mother "thing" just kicks in, I had two children 17 months apart and since then I have been shattered but you know what, I wouldn't change it for the world, since the day I gave birth, I felt a sense of achievement (You'll understand once you given birth) and no-one can take that away. We may not have a flat screen TV, Holidays aboard or the latest gadgets but we are very happy, and that's all that matters.
Rottenrow hospital has been knocked down, hasn't it? That's where my Darling Daughter was born, where is the nearest maternity unit to you now?

Youve done the most hardest thing, youve sat doen and looked at the debts, obviously maternity pay does have a big knock on effect on the income.
There are some positives on your SOA.
 No council tax 2 months
 Payment - finishes Jan
Mobile phone - pick up a free o2 sim card pay and go, top up £10, 300 free texts, top up £15, 500 texts or free calls, you get 10% top up back every 3 mths
You need to put your feet up and rest, not worrying
I can see where your coming from, but by getting a loan, yes its one montly payment, but whilst on maternity leave - your on SMP, then they would account for you having a child, so in theory theres not enough disposbale income to pay a loan.
You need to go through your SOA again, add everything in, gas, elec, grocery, extras, petrol, car ins, tax, repairs, account for any extras you need for the baby.
Id have a practise now, throw some figures in, (based on when youve had the baby),
 www.entitledto.com
this site - you dont give out personal details but it tells you whether you would get any extra help.
Also I'll do it later 2day, find a link for a snowball, input all debts, the aprs and your monthly total allowance - it accounts for everything - absolutle godsend.
xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0

            Hello
This is my first post as have only just joined a few days ago and really need some advice please.
I am 8 months pregnant with our first child and £16000 in debt. I have finally spoke to my husband about the situation just before xmas as I dont think he realised just how bad the situation was. Thankfully he was very understanding and didnt hit the roof which is what i was expecting.
We decided to apply for a loan of £15000 from tesco as we have had loans from them before, unfortunatley we got a letter back declining our application. I wrote and appealed the decision but again got another letter saying no basically.
I have got a copy of mine and my husbands credit file which looks fine to me, although I have had problems in the past they dont seem to be showing on the file any more.
I would really appreciate any help or suggestions that anyone has to help me start to deal with this situation as im at my wits end and crying as I write this as I cannot believe I have got me and my family into this situation as its all my fault.
 Kind Regards

It isn't necessarily about the state of your credit reference - this is only one of several factors a financial organisation will take into consideration when calculating your credit worthiness.
Most financial organisations will have complex 'credit risk' rules which decide who they market to and what kind of customer profile they want to attract. If you don't fit these criteria, you will not be accepted for a loan. Particularly given the current issues around bad debt within the financial services industry.
I am sorry this doesn't help you with a loan, but it may at least give you an explanation!0

            hello
just read your post and think everyone has given you great advice - just wanted to add a couple more things.
If people offer you bits and bobs for the baby - take them up on their offer. When my youngest sister was born, my parents didn't need to buy anything as they were given loads from relatives and friends who had children.
Ebay is a great place to get baby clothes - the supermarket ranges are also good value too.
Have you tried selling on ebay - its amazing what will sell!
Will you get child tax credits when bump arrives? this will add to your income (although I don't know if its much!)
best of luck for the impending labour xxx
I can't promise that all my replies will illicit this responser.mac, you are so wise and wonderful, that post was lovely and so insightful! 0 0

Hi - once the baby is born, you will get child benefit and maybe tax credits as well, which will add to the income side.
Have a look at https://www.entitledto.co.uk and enter all your figures. You may be entitled to the Surestart maternity grant, which would help a lot!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
