Varicose Veins - Private Treatment Query

I am only 21 but have had a varicose vein for about 7 years now. Gradually it has got worse, becoming more prominant although luckily not protruding too much yet. I also get a lot of achiness in my legs when standing for too long.
I have visited the GP on numerous occasions and they will not refer me to a hospital. The nhs wont treat people unless its serious.
I am not looking into private treatment.
What do people recommend?

I was quite lucky to be referred to a consultant, I am 25 and have had them for years and they are getting worse (for me though there isn't really any pain). Really I wanted one of the injection options as I had heard good things, however the consultant refused and would only offer the stripping option, this from what he said would leave me with at least a 3 inch scar and other smaller scars down my legs, and then given other people's experiences it seems they were likely to return. So I decided no to put myself through that and all the risks accociated with general anathetic (which scared my mum) and leave them. I rarely wear skirts and if I do I wear tights which makes then not too noticeable, but short skirts and shorts are out of the question.
I did have to push for a referral to a consultant, but was dissapointed with the options available to me and so I am still stuck with them.2009 wins: Cadburys Chocolate Pack x 6, Sally Hansen Hand cream, Ipod nano! mothers day meal at Toby Carvery! :j :j :j :j0
