I put several lines on the Thunderball. I some time win but only 5, 10 or £20.
On Saturday 1 December 2007 I decided to change the numbers. I decided that as I already had the tickets written out I would use the old numbers one more time, then use the new numbers starting with the draw on 5 December 2007.
That night old numbers won £100, I remember it well! On the Sunday I collected the winnings and some new tickets and started using the new numbers.
Today I discovered that there are a set of circumstances that can lead to tickets being thrown away before the draw and you not wining when you think you have.
So I have just spent the morning checking every line for every draw. Unfortunately I went back one week too far and checked the numbers I started using on 5 Dec 07 for the draw on 1 Dec 07.
Would you believe it, they came up 5 + Thunderball
If I hadn't been too lazy to walk along to the paper shop and pick up some blank tickets I would have used the new numbers for that draw and won £250,000.
When I was checking the numbers I didn't realise I had gone back one week too far with the new numbers and for a couple of minutes thought I had won! Then I looked at my spreadsheet and saw that I won £100 that week, and instantly knew that was the last week of the old numbers and I didn't start using the new ones until the following Wednesday.
I don't know whether to laugh or cry, but at least I now know what the first few minutes fell like when you go to check your numbers online and it comes up you've won £250,000.
