Hi guys,
I was just after a bit of advice and a few recommendations really. I bought my first flat 2 years ago and am now coming to the end of my 2 year fixed rate mortgage (3.49% that will revert to SVR with the Halifax). Obviously I don't want to pay the SVR if I can move to another discounted rate (or maybe even stay with Halifax if they will offer a discount).
Anyway, I'll give you some details to help decide whats best for me.
Age 27
Male (single)
Salary £23,000
Last mortgage £72,000
Purchase Price £120,000
Car loan/credit card £8000
I hope that is all the info you guys need. Just 2 final points. Would it be a good idea or not to mortgage for a little bit more and pay off my car loan/credit card? Also, at some point in the future, I might ask my girlfriend to move in. Would there be any implications?
thanks for your help

first option should be to ask Halifax what they will offer when your rate runs off.The lenders seem to be taking biz retetion a bit more seriously as new lending has dropped off.
you could add your loan but would be stretching the term and thus the ammount you end up paying. If you can handle the payments leave it alone (you could switch it to a low loan rate 5.9%).
lastly the implications of asking your girlfriend to move in are that she might do your head in....lol...........good luck!!
ciao
