Sky Television debt.

I hope im posting in the right forum and someone can help.
We have been sky customers on the family (£19.50) package for a couple of years.
In dec 04 we moved into some temp accomodation untill our new house was ready.
We phoned up sky to tell them we wanted to cancel, changing the account address to the temp accomodation. Persuaded by them they told us to save hassle we could pay £3 or so a month to keep the account active, untill we were ready to move into our new house. My mum agreed to this.
In Feb 05 we moved into our new house, and have been using freeview, deciding whether we actually want sky television.
Recently we received a letter from the owners of the temp accomodation we stayed in.
Sky are wanting £48.50. We phoned them up to find out what for. They told us that the £3 was a promotion and only lasted for 3 months.
After 3 months they have been charging us £13.50 for a base pack sky, which we havnt even had.. we dont even reside at the address its meant to be installed at.
So now we have a £48 debt when all i would have expected is about £18.
They seem reluctant to do anything about this,
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

They are now doing it for 86p a month or something - so no excuse
Sky customer services are not good via phone - write and complain to the head office registered address.0
