My L&G Stakeholder Fund Choices

As I said I am concerned about inflation so I meant index linked gilts in case I was unclear.
Sorry, my mistake - I didn't read your post closely enough and thought you were suggesting an equity index. I had a look at the L&G Index linked fund and it's doing much better than the Fixed Interest fund (and hads done for the past 5 yrs), so will maybe look to move my 10% from fixed to index linked. Cheers for the suggestion.Mortgage Free in 3 Years (Apr 2007 / Currently / Δ Difference)

You replied pretty quick there Dunstonh, did you read from my link..Dollar cost averaging has been widely criticized by economists and academic finance researchers as more of a marketing gimmick than a sound investment strategy (a way to gradually ease worried investors into a market, investing more over time than they might otherwise be willing to do all at once). Numerous studies of real market performance, models, and theoretical analysis of the strategy have shown that in addition to having the admitted lower overall returns, DCA does not even meaningfully reduce risk when compared to other strategies, even including a completely random investment strategy.
Even if there is an IFA somewhere in the country that never touches a proposal form he's still a salesman selling his advice isn't he?
Nothing wong with being called a salesman in fact you should be proud of it. I remember when asked what my occupation was when registering the birth of my son. I nearly put down Insurance agent, the wife turned round and said hang on put down Life Inspector as that's your job now (changed just before he was born) and I said better still I'll put down the truth and write Insurance salesman so if anyone ever looks in the register 100 years from now at least they'll understand it.
As for the title IFA remember it was not one of choice, far more apt would have been Insurance and Investment Broker.0
