If you want to get a good organic box, which does not have stuff imported from all over the place then I would advise not buying from a company that does nationwide delivery. Buy local. Find out if there is a farmers market and ask the people selling there if they do them. Ask them where they farm. And learn to give up eating fresh tomatoes in winter. There's no point in making sure something hasn't been flown in from Turkey or Israel but to ignore the fact that it has been grown locally in a heated greenhouse.0

I bought one of the Shropshire boxes from Tesco before Christmas when it was on offer. I was not impressed with the selection or the quality. I assumed that the supplier was from Shropshire so not that far from me on Merseyside but is actually based in the Fens. I will try to find a local box scheme.:hello: N:hello:A :hello:N :hello:A :hello:M :hello:A :hello:G :hello:S :hello:0

d.o.o.g. - I do apologise, it was only my first paragraph that referred to your post. I did use your link to get to the website, and the onions listed for the mini box don't have a 'uk' next to them, which means they're from overseas). After that I was following a train of thought set off by other posts in the discussion but I realise I didn't make that clear, so ... Sorry! I had no intention of putting words into your mouth (or anyone else's).
No Problem. I didn't spot the onions
I'll have to look at this week's sheet and see where they come from
And well said the person who suggested farmers markets. They are by far the cheapest and best way to get good quality organic produce, with a minimum of transportation. Unfortunately. Where I live there are no such markets within easy reach; if there were, I'd be there like a shot.
As an aside, local farms/markets are an ideal source of cheaper organic meat too. I don't pay any more for my organic chickens than you would pay for a "decent" chicken in a supermarket and the other meat is actually CHEAPER. :money::money:0 -
Hi
I get a veg box delivered from Northern Harvest. They offer both organic or non organic and they source their veg as much as possible from the NorthWest i.e. Cheshire / Lancashire. They do much more that veg. So far I've found the quality to be excellent.
Another big organic box scheme though is Abel & Cole.0
