Letter to Store card company

Hi. I have a store card that I havent used for ages (its cut up and in the bin) but my balance isnt going down much due to the interest. I am thinking of writing a letter asking for the interest to be stopped or cut for six months. Has anyone had any luck doing this? Also i drafted out what I would put but im not very good a things like that so any help would be welcomed!
As you can see by previous statements I have been finding it hard to pay on time, I have just started a new job and I am trying to get my finances in order. I no longer use my card, and haven’t for a few months but my balance isn’t going down much due to me paying late so getting a late payment charge and due to the interest. As you can see on average I pay £40 per month and I am paying £20 per month in interest so overall I am really only paying £20 off my balance and £20 is the interest. Is there any way that my interest can be lowered or stopped for 6 months and I will continue to pay my minimum payment, therefore all my payment is going off my balance and not on interest and my balance will be lowered.
I hope you will give kind consideration to my personal circumstances, and of course if I can pay more each month then I will.
I thank you for your attention to this matter, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Welcome to the board:D . Who is the debt with - which store card? What is your credit score like, can you transfer the balance onto a 0% or a 5.9% lifetime balance card.
If you would post your soa (Incomings and outgoings) us DFW will help and see if we can reduce your outgoings.
I'm sorry but I can't advise you on your question you did ask, I haven't tried to freeze interest, a more experienced DFW will help you with that one.
