What gifts for girls aged 10, 11, 12 years?

Hi,

I have buying lots (and I mean lots) in the sales. Have plenty of boys items and preschool stuff but I struggle to know what to buy for my nieces who will be 10, 11, 12 this year.

I have a cella sticker maker (is this too young?).
I also have a Bratz watch but think they make have out grown this?

I was thinking of doing a pamper hamper each for christmas but what sort of things should I put in there? What age do girls start wearing make-up? I don't want to upset the parents.

Cheers

Any advice gratefully received. Thank you

My daughter is 11, nearly 12.

She grew out of Bratz when she was 11, BUT where we live is maybe a bit more innocent than some areas, and maybe they grow up slower (small island community).

I think a pamper hamper would be nice, but I would go for muted colours/pinks - nail varnish, lip gloss rather than lipstick, and glitter rather than highly coloured eye shadow. Stuff for their hair and maybe jewellery would be good - Claire's accessories have a good sale on at the moment, apparantly.

    HTH!

Just a thought - you could do a 'girly night in' hamper, that could include pamper-type stuff, but also maybe a dvd, some popcorn/chocolate/crisps/cd - that kind of stuff, if you were struggling for pamper ideas.

Clares acessories have a good 5 for £5 sale.Ibought chains, bangles ,bracelets, handbags, jewellery boxes and smelly sets yesterday and these would be good in a hamper! They also had hats, gloves, socks, hairbrush sets, bandanas, notebooks etc so worth a look!

Thank you Trow and Shelby161 for all those ideas. I think I will start to gather stuff for a pamper evening as they all stay over all MIL's quite frequently. It seems mad to be thinking so far in advance but now seems the time to pick up the bargains.

What age do you think the Cella Sticker maker is aimed at?

I still have birthdays to buy for and I usually get something small for Easter rather than an egg. Last year I got books perhaps some crafty things for this year.

    Cheers. fesdufun
  • i agree with the claires accesories stuff....my daughter is 10 and loves it in there. She also loves the primark "low waisted" pyjamas which are normally no more than £4.i have managed to get 4 pairs for 2 quid each the other day in their reduced bit.My daughter also loved a personalised cd which we did via itunes.....just downloaded her fav songs onto a disc ...she thought it was fab.(this only cost about 30p.....15p for the disc and 15p for the case.)

All these ideas in a pamper hamper would be great.

The Cella Sticker Maker would be ideal for the younger ones I would have thought - my daughter loves crafty things and would be delighted with it.

Thanks for the advice so far. I have managed to bag a few bargains in the Boots sale and need some guidance on the age range they are aimed at. I have five nieces who will be 6, 10, 11, 12 and 19 this year.

Cute or What Bumper Box - Clear lip gloss, pink puppy nail, peach nail polish, eyeshadow, blush powder honey - all in a dog bone box.

Bobby Pin - Ultimate collection. Eyeshadows, lip glosses, nail polish, brush set, emery boards, toe separators

    Badger Balm Body Care tins

Littlest Pet Shop Get better set

    Spotz maker

    Boots Fresh! Scrumptious Body Purse

    Cordz Ultimate Art Studio

Soap and glory Do the bath

Ted Baker Tried and Tested Fragrance Gift

Tutti Cuti Puppy Love Stationary Bag

Mary-Kate and Ashley - Lip Gloss Trio

Sorry for the long list, I am a bit useless when it comes to girly stuff.

Hi, not sure how much use I'll be as my niece is 8 1/2 going on 13 lol. She's quite grown up in terms of fashion and likes make-up. I gave her the Cella sticker maker this Xmas (Boot's sale last year :D) and have bought the Spotz and Cordz for her birthday/xmas this year.

She would love the Bobby Pin set and the Cute or What Bumper Box and probably the stationary bag. I think she might feel the Mary Kate/Ashley is a bit young for her, though she'd like the lip gloss, also the Littlest Pet Shop just a tad young - maybe more for the 6yr old?

Similarly the Badger tins and Ted Baker and probably Soap and Glory might be a bit old - I would have given the Ted Baker to the 19yr old personally.

Of course at those ages girls can vary a lot, some are still into little girls things while others are very grown up, so I can only really say based on my experience of one niece lol. Sounds like they'll have some lovely gifts this year!

Thank you so much for your advice. I don't mind giving a gift that is slightly too old but I don't want to give one that is too young. I can remember that happening to me as a child and it was very disappointing.

I have made a list for presents 2008 and 2009, not complete yet but getting there.

6 yr old - Mary-Kate and Ashley lip, Littlest Pet shop, 6 yr old and Spotz for when she is 7yr
7 yr old Cella sticker maker and cranium hullabaloo
11 yr old Punky fish lipglosses, Cella sticker maker and sleepover hamper
10 yr old Punky fish lipglosses, Cordz studio and sleepover hamper
12 yr old Punky fish lipglosses, Bobbypin and sleepover hamper
Stationary bags for birthday party gifts.
19 year old Ruby and Millie set old
    Does this seem okay?

The rest will be for adults or to sell on to friends and family. I plan to sell my unwanted gifts to fund the raffle/hamper things for this year at school, nursery and work. That way I can give some really nice things without actually paying for them and have the points for the sale in the summer or next year. I can then carry one with my addiction without feeling guilty.

Wow sounds like your nieces will be really pleased with their gifts fesdufun! And your plan to sell on sounds a fab idea too, wish I was that disciplined :o
