I'm not sure if this is the right forum to post this in; according to my daily paper yesterday, M&S are launching a scheme with Oxfam, starting for a six-month trial on 28th Jan: customers who donate any unwanted M&S clothes will receive a £5 voucher in return, valid for one month, against purchases of £35 or more of M&S clothing, homeware or beauty products. It's their way of trying to cut down on the 1 million tonnes of clothing sent to landfill every year. Sounds like a very good idea, to me!
Sorry it this is in the wrong place.

What a good marketing idea from M&S, I suppose many are jumping on the 'green' wagon when it comes to increasing business (M&S of course revealing a very bad year last year) but that is a good one.One day I might be more organised...........
GC: £200
Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
Do they have to be unworn or can they be used? I just cut up some old tshirts to stuff a draft excluder but I'm sure I could find something...maybe some of the trousers that no longer fit me0

Good tip. Thanks. I think it would be best in the green and ethical moneysaving board, so I'll move it later. Thanks.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0

BELFASTGIRL - they can be used - just donate what you would normally donate to a charity shop, i.e. clothes you just don't wear, clothes that don't fit any more, clothes you're fed up with, that sort of thing. The only condition is that they must be M&S, that's all.KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

Its a good offer, but I had to laugh at the way they're presenting it as a way to cut landfill. More stuff bought equals more stuff going to landfill, even if it goes to the charity shop first at some stage its still going to end up as landfill. If they were really serious at cutting landfill they would have to persuade consumers to buy less and thats just not gonna happen is it:rolleyes: .0

Why not go to your favourite charity shop, pick up say two m and s teeshirts for a £1 each, donate them to Oxfam, get yourself and your mum perhaps a voucher each and then flog the vouchers on ebay. That way, the charity shop benefits twice over and you don't have to find £35 either.0

genius - i was just going to say i dont fancy spending £35 in m&s just to redeem a voucher. not that i use ebay but theres the solution.
presumably the voucher is regardless of the quality or quantity you donate, in which case its rather open to abuse.0
