I know that specialist legal advice is required but wondered if anybody had any pointers to set us in the right direction>.... Thanks
Mr & Mrs J, both in their 70s, live in Mrs Js mum and dads old home in the north of England. They have lived there for almost 50 years and originally went there to care for Mrs Js parents upon request of Mrs Js father.
Mrs Js mother & father stated that if they cared for them into their old age the house would be theirs upon their deaths. Mr and Mrs J cared for Mrs Js parents for some 20 years almost. None of Mrs Js siblings helped.
Mrs Js father was the last to die some 20+ years ago. Sadly he left a will that stated the house should be sold and shared amongst 5 grandchildren upon the deaths of Mr & Mrs J…. It would appear there was some animosity between Mr J and his father in law.
Mr and Mrs J never contested this will, now some 20 years old.
Moral dilemma/conflict:
Mr & Mrs J want to leave the home to their two children, 2 of the 5 grandchildren named in the earlier will. They have lived in the house for over 50 years, have maintained it, modernised it and kept to their agreement of caring for the elderly parents until death.
Is there anything they can do to enable them to override the former will?

So how is the ownership of the house held at present and what is the nature of Mr & Mrs J's tenancy? Was Mrs J's Father's will probated?
Unless there was a problem with the original will I cannot see any way the will can be changed unless the other 3 grandchildren wish to give away their interest in the property.0
