I didn't realise this was all going to be so difficult!
I am in the process of letting out a house for an elderly relative and look like we will get tenants in within a couple of weeks, trouble is the house still has furniture and we don't know how to get rid of it.
The letting agent has outlined risks with leaving too much furniture and suggested we let unfurnished which would actually suit us as we live some considerable distance from the property and don't want to have to keep going in for minor problems.
One house clearer has just called and said he would take the two x two seater sofas (2 years old) , plus an additional 2 seater leather sofa, single beds and a very expensive electronic adjustable bed but would not offer anything for taking them. He didn't want any of the bedroom furniture or large (almost new) sideboard. I'd prefer these things to go to a good home and had really hoped to make money from the adjustable bed as it cost several hundred pounds about three years ago. He even wanted us to throw in a nearly new portable TV for nothing.
Any suggestions about shifting furniture in a hurry?

Put a card in a local shop window or else a local free newspaper.
Or you could phone social services and say you have stuff to give away?"This site is addictive!"

look in your yellow pages for house clearance...you should get some money from them, and they should take the lot, incl dispose of any rubbish for you...won't be as much as you paid, coz they still need to make a profit0

Put the bed in the local paper or ebay or ring around a few house clearance people for the best price.
If your not bothered about the sofa's then ring the salvation army shop as these will gladly take them from you and they should be able to pick them up from you as long as they are in good condition.
Good luck!! Lawe :wave:0 -
Definatly Ebay the stuff, the buyers collect it and ive been looking at furniture on ebay and it all goes, no matter what it looks like.
