Handbag Competition - help me name my shop

Hi,
im a little concerned with your approach to this naming process, whilst i understand that perhaps input from others might have been helpful as to a way of naming your company given your apparent 'block' in imagination, i feel that you very much set the scene for people to merely throw in as many possible 'plays' on the word bag in a bid to win a prize, rather than them having perhaps a genuine interest and consequently a lot of those suggested are -i feel- rather weak.
I also think you've been a bit naive, for me it would have been fundamental to have described the nature of your businesses beforehand, the fact you haven't done so led to such a varied mix of names, all of which have entirely different connotations and implication for a company, for example 'bags4u' would attract an entirely different consumer base to 'bagelicious' or 'bagheaven'. Had you set the scene i feel you would have got far more relevant (and better) responses.
Don't decide upon a name unless your 100% comfortable with it, and sure its right for your business; after all, once you've chosen one, thats it, to change it at a later date could be incredibly costly.
Think about whether your chosen brandname suits for example, your target market; their tastes, affluences, culture, disposable income etc. Or suits your your products; if you were to diversify later on then having a name which merely suggested you sold bags such as 'bagsRus' could loose you potential customers, as could a name which fails to represent or misrepresents the types of bags you sell which you sell. etc, etc, etc.
I don't mean to criticise, or pretend im some kind of management guru, but i hope you find my comments constructively helpful.
Also please refrain from arguing with other members on a site such as this, its really not necessarry, nor big or clever.
Best of luck, dante.Carax.0 -
You might also consider:
- carrying out some due diligence to see whether anyone else is, or has been recently, using the term before you begin to trade as any prior user may have rights that would enable it to prevent your use of the term if you are trading in a similar field;
- consulting a trade mark attorney about registering your new name as a trade mark.
