£34.99 @ Tradex for a 512 one

512mb on 1.1 usb won't really matter that much. 1.1 usb on 5gb is a bit more difference. however with 512mb i don't really think it matters."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0

Jeez what do you want for £60
Battery life is better than 5 hours (takes about 1 hour to fully charge. How many other players can you get for £60 with a built in rechargeable battery and an additional battery pack. It supports file structures, has LCD so you can see what track/album you are on, supports WMA files - I usually have about 18 albums on mine - which get swapped over a lot. Transfer is a little slow on USB 1.1 but is much much quicker from aUSB 2.0 port.
The sound is excellent quality - much much better than other "cheap" players of eBay and the net - I know we bought our daughter one and our son a different one and I wouldnt have paid £10 for them.
As for only being remote operated. The amount of people I see having to fetch their player out of their pocket to change tracks etc, this one you clip it onto your shirt, pocket etc while the player hangs around your neck.
I'm an avid music fan and audiophile with high quality stuff at home, so I think I know what Im on about where this subject is concerned. I bought this one because of all the features I outlined above (that have been rubbished) because it was light, easily rechargeable, no moving parts and stores a lot of albums with good sound quality.
If you dont like what you see, dont buy it, go spend your £60 on some other piece of tat on eBay.
Or if you are in the hunt for one, you cant really go wrong at this price.Never argue with an idiot. He will bring you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Well I wouldn't go near one of those. I was critising the model in comparison to its branded peers. The review is pretty clear that there are better models out there.
I am sure the features and operability are fine - I switch the music on, walk to work and turn it off when I get there - so it wouldnt bother me. 5 hrs battery would also be fine for me. The killer blow is that it doesn't sound good. I will bet that it wont come close to my sony minidisc player (rz55?) which gets better and better as you improve the headphones and even drives my Grado sr60's with easeSilent_Bob wrote:I'm an avid music fan and audiophile with high quality stuff at home, so I think I know what Im on about where this subject is concerned.Silent_Bob wrote:Or if you are in the hunt for one, you cant really go wrong at this price.0 -
i bought one on monday, it jumps. i have no idea why, it sounds like i'm using a discman on a trampoline! i tried using the software they provide, the new mp3's are still jumping. any clues? i'm taking it back today, should i get another one? the shuffle is a similar price but i don't like it and it doesn't have a display. the philpps one is nice, i like having the controls on the headphones, i just wish it didn't jump. has anyone else had one that doesn't jump?52% tight0

The mp3's are fine on the PC? What if you copy them back to the PC and play them (ie is the memory corrupt, or a transfer problem - try it plugged directly to a usb port (not a hub) I had a problem with my front ports, yet my rear ports work fine. Just some thoughts, HTH0
