Go Debt are notorious for buying YCC/DAF accounts.
Only deal with them in writing as they can be quite nasty / aggressive on the phone and that solves nothing.

Have the actually written to you yet or is it all phonecalls (not unusual tactics)
If you want details from DAF then you need to write to:
DIRECT AUTO FINANCE LIMITED, COLONNADE, SUNBRIDGE ROAD, BRADFORD
    WEST YORKSHIRE, BD1 2LQ

They are a part of the provident group and seem to be being wound down as only exist now for payments.
  • i was paying thru debt advisory, but they kept saying they were refusing to accept the offer of payment.......so i told them to stop paying them and i would try to resolve myself...yesterday some gent rang up from Go debt saying i owed 5 grand + i asked for a statement..and copy of agreement.
He said that i could pay 1500 and all would be cleared...or pay 500 and he would cap the debt at 3 grand.....i said i wanted to check i hadnt been mis sold insurance ppi etc....he said a judge would throw it out as id signed the agreement and couldnt prove otherwise......he then said that i should be paying them more as a mobile contract, gym memberships, sky etc are all things i should not be having cos i owe them money....he got !!!!!! and said now he was taking away my right to pay installments and if i didnt pay balance within 7 days they were taking me to court!!

im at my wits end with Go debt, will wait until i get all the statements thru and post it on here if anyone can help me sought this thing out?? Many thanks Ms Packman
  • Ok i just recieved a copy of my agreement in the post today...
What do you guys need to see on here to see if i have a case???

i was indeed sold ppi plus mechanical breakdown insurance and gap insurance

a down payment of 200.00 was taken off the insurance side.

I thank you in advance with any help you can give me
  • So can no one offer any advise?? or is this all dead in the water??:(

Start your own thread with details of your problem. The people who can help probably won't be looking in old dark threads for stragglers.

    Best of luck :)
  • .he then said that i should be paying them more as a mobile contract, gym memberships, sky etc are all things i should not be having cos i owe them money

I don't think I have ever defended these people but for a first, I will now.

You signed up to this agreement committing yourself merrily into repaying the car you drove off in.... all happy at the time. :j

I would have (as would many many others) tried pointlessly to convince you to change your mind and avoid taking out this agreement, but that is irrelevant now.

How is it that you consider it a bigger necessity to keep your Sky Movies and Gym Memberships whilst trying to claim poverty, whining you can only afford a pound a Month???:mad:

sorry, you have no sympathy here, I hope they drag your sorry !!! into Court and get what is theirs. :T:T
Beware of imitations e.g. Robert Sterling
  • No you missunderstood.........i dont have all these things....gym i gave up i now have freeview.....im saying the guy just ripped into me saying this!!
I could understand if i had mountains of debt...but this is the only thing im being chased for......i have managed to sought out my previous debts....although why i should justify myself to you Robert is beyond me!!!
I asked for advise and now im being ripped into????? Nice forum this is!!

Maybe you should word your posts more clearly if you don't want to be misunderstood.

The sentance RS quoted above irked me too, hence the thanks.
  • Yea reading the post back i have worded it wrong!!!! was pee'd off as i was writing it.........when on the phone to the guy from go debt he went into a right one about how anyone who owed THEM money should not have gym memberships, sky tv a mobile phone contract etc etc.........thing is we gave the car back to DAF years ago 2003 maybe..and this go debt were chasing for 6 grand, and i started paying my debts thru a debt advisory company (silly i hear you say) but go debt kept calling saying they would not accept the offers of payments (they did take the money) so i said stop paying Go debt in order to get my other debts paid quicker. Someone then told me to check my agreement as it was possible i got mis sold PPI....hence why im here!!

So im not someone who is dodging my debts or just dont want to pay....but yes car credit sold me a piece of s**t car that broke down so bad i had to pay to replace the engine.....they say the breakdown cover didnt cover that!!!!!! Go figure.......so i fell behind on payments for a while.....when i got back on my feet was paying DAF payments of £150 A WEEK to get back on course...alas i couldnt afford to pay this every week, DAF said they would take back the car.....then after some time Go debt started chasing!!!!
  • I bought a car through ycc, in 2005, when I sat down and worked out the the payments and every thing that car would actually cost me £13000, I kept up the payments but after paying over I think it was half the amount (not sure) I was struggling, I had tried to contact on numerous occasions to try to sort this out with no joy, one day 2 men turned up and said they had come to repossess my car I was devastated, they rang through to the office and I spoke to someone to make an offer of payment which they said no, I was told that the car would be taken or the police would be involved as I was obstucting them taking it. I was told to sign to say they had taken it. They were so aggressive, after they left with my car I sat down and read through the whole of my agreement and in small print it said because of the amount I had paid they were not allowed to take my car, so I rang the number and within 4 hours I had my car back. I was talking to some one who this had happened to aswell, I was told that because they had taken their car in the same way and they only owed £2000 that how I'm not sure but they took ycc/daf to court and claimed back the whole amount that they had paid for the car. Does any one know if this can be done,
    Thanks
