Virtual Clothes?

Options
A friend of mine has son who has been playing on a game called "Club Penguin"(??)Apparently it's a virtual game you play on-line with other characters.Last night he was very upset as other characters were wearing "clothes". My friend says that these have to be bought using REAL money, and quite rightly doesn't want to pay a penny for "virtual clothes". So, the question is, is there any way of getting clothes for the penguin without having to pay?If there is any advice that is techinical please be as basic as possible and i can't believe i am actually asking for clothes for a penguin ;-)

  • Club Penguin is part of Walt Disney, I'm fairly certain you don't have to buy clothes for the characters (well not with real cash I mean), you can buy clothes on there but they are real clothes for you to wear lol.
I could be wrong but I'm 99% sure.

EDIT** Just checked with the FAQs on there and apparantly you have to earn coins by doing tasks etc, you can buy cards in Target stores in the US for $5.95 that boost your coin value, but you can earn them if you don't want to spend. Also you can buy a real memebership if you have enough "coins".

You can play for free but if you want 'special stuff' like virtual penguin clothes you do have to pay money for 'membership' :
    https://secure.clubpenguin.com/membership/

It' like a lot of other kids sites like neopets and habbo hotel where they started free all round then they cam up with the idea of making kids (parents) pay REAL money to get 'extra privelages' such as special clothing or 'furniture' for virtual rooms etc etc.

Shame to take advantage of kids like this cuz it could easily be free as the 'non-special' furniture etc is.

I don't think there is any way round this either OP. Only people who pay for membership will get clothes - awfully unfair for kids really :(
  • lol, this made me giggle, it was so nice you asked for virtual clothes for your childs on line penguin....now thats parenting!!

My son is always on Club Penguin!
There are often special occasions, I think it was Mexican day the other day, all the pingwings were walking round with mexican hats and maracas!

My son isn't a paid up member but he does manage to buy things (including 2 pet puffles) using money earned from puffle catching, surfing and riding the goldmine train etc...

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.

Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.
  • My daughter is obsessed with Club Penguin she is always pleading for money for credits to buy clothes and furniture for her room. Its led to some pretty horrible arguments!!!!!! She meets her school mates on it. At least she isnt up to no good. :-)
  • My daughter is on this a lot, it seems quite good. We haven't paid any money, she only does the freebie parts.

My two kids love it, and are on it every night! A 1 month membership costs about £3, so I let them use pocket money to join for a month.
They actually wanted membership as a xmas present.
