Hen Night Ideas

Hi All,

I'm looking for some different Hen night ideas - I've tried searching google but it just seems to come up with package weekends that cost far too much for what they are!

I live in Reading and will have people travelling from all over the UK so don't want to make it too costly. I don't mind some travel and an overnight stay. I want to invite my mum and mil and I'm not much of a clubbing person (or a spa person) so what else is there to do?

I reckon there will be 6 - 8 of us.... any ideas or tried and tested hen nights/weekends that don't cost the earth and aren't your usual trip to amsterdam?

Thanks,

BDJ x

  • Not sure if this would be any use to you but I'm thinking of having a day at the races rather than a clubbing style "event". It can be a great day out as you can take your own picnic and if you don't bet can work out quite reasonable depending on which tickets you get.

Or perhaps you could book tickets for a show and then go for a meal afterwards? or maybe tea at the Ritz or somewhere posh beforehand.

Weekend at Centerparcs? or something similar.

Is there an interest you all share? A lot of places have craft painting or walking weekends. The hotel that is holding our wedding does quad biking and shooting but not really my style either.

Must admit I'm rather stuck myself on this one as I'm not a clubbing or spa person either but hope that helps.
Officially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended :p
  • what about a night at a casino? A good excuse to dress up and that but not sure if you guys are the gambling sort.

Depending on peoples ages - what about something like snowboarding lesson followed by bowling and a meal in Milton Keynes?

what season is it going to be? What about a water sports center if its summer? or rock climbing? (could be done indoors)

Or find a venue in London or wherever really that does good music, food and drinks for a fun night out without the need to get drunk? or a comedy club?

    sorry im ranting now lol
  • Murder mystery night sounds good! Personally I have dropped (non too subtle) hints to my 'Best Woman' about the ladies nights at one of the casnisos in town where they do 2 4 1 cocktails & teach you how to play poker without having to gamble. (Manchester 235) which also has a couple of resteraunts.
  • For mine on the afternoon there was a group of us that had a pole dancing lesson (my mum included) <- cost about £25 each and for the evening those who didnt go there just joined us for a meal, then home.

Or you could go for lunch and a shopping expedition?

  • I had no idea what to do for my hen night (and it will be just a night or afternoon as we cant afford to go away for the weekend like the stag and his mates) but the pole dancing lesson sounds fun and I've done a google search and found them for £29 each which is reasonable.....jammydodga what it any good? Did you all enjoy it?
  • What about something at the water park just outside Reading? I'm sure they have activities to cater for a diverse range of tastes and adrenaline levels.

  • I would love to do a Burlesque Class for my hen night but can I find one in Birmingham? Always thought a cocktail making class would be a giggle as well.

If you decide on the casino, give the manager a ring before you go and see if he can do something special for your group - they should be more than willing to at least give you a good deal on meals and drinks (I work in a casino). Also, make sure everyone brings a driving licence or passport for ID or they won't get in.

    Hi there

I'm organising a hen night in Oxford for my best friend and trying to keep the cost down as much as possible so I'm going to design her very own personalised treasure hunt. It will really appeal to her as she's very fun loving and loves puzzles, and because I do have the time to make it really good it will be free!! We are also looking into staying at the youth hostel in Oxford which is only about £22 a night. We haven't decided on evening entertainment yet but I'm thinking stand up comedy or something?

    Hope that helps!

How about a river cruise with dinner? I'm sure there must be somewhere near Reading, on the Thames that does that?
