Playstation 3 & new plug-in that can record tv

During what hi-fi magazine's test for HD players, playstation 3 was awarded 5 stars. Not bad seeing how the other players are just blue-ray players & more expensive! This added a bit of weight to hubby's request to buy one! They all seem to retail at a similar price, with free hd cables - so does anyone know where i can get some substantial cashback on the purchase?

Also, recently heard about PlayTV a set top box that plugs into your Playstation effectively turning it into a Sky+ box (but for freeview channels only). Apparently its due to be released at the end of march of this year and expected to retail around £99. Also heard that it is also a freeview box. So now i'm excited, as our video has broke and i've missed far to many programmes for my liking. Can anyone offer any further info about this?

As far as I can tell you will be looking for discount codes to make this purchase better. As you say, there all the same price (roughly) everywhere and i take it you wont be intrested in games bundles as your doing for the BR player facility.

So check out the discount codes pages on the forum, John Lewis has a 20 off a 100 spend, although dunno about stock levels. Theres bound to be some kicking about for other places too.

As for the tv box - i heard that too. Essentially its early Q2 (probably) and the expecation is that it will use the PS3s hard disk as a pvr. Nearly worth getting one
