Hello
My son's micra died yesterday, does anyone know anywhere we can get a new or recon engine for it, and roughly how much it will cost? The car is quite old 1989 (G),
and we want to know if it is an uneconomical repair. We are in the medway towns in kent, so obviously the nearer home the better as we can collect. Any ideas?
Thanks people.

Not really worth bothering to be honest unless the car is immaculate but there are plenty of micras of that vintage in the breakers yards, Have a look in you local Yellow pages.
A recon engine will probably cost £500+ if you can find one, which is more than double the value of the car!!!0 -
No way economical repair.
Ebay the car for spares/repair and look for a new one.
Sorry

it depends on your viewpoint. If the car is otherwise reliable then it might be worth keeping it on the road, even if the car itself is worth nothing, its replacement cost is much higher.
Going back 11/12 years but we (I say we as it passed through every memeber of my family) had an old cavalier (1985and the engine blew when the car was 11 years old. It was reconstructed and survived my brother learning and driving it for 3 years, and then me learning and driving it for 3 1/2 years. Im not sure how much it cost to reconstruct but it earned its keep by soldiering on for another 6 1/2 years at which point it was uneconomical to repair.

An 18 year old Micra is virtually worthless, I'm afraid."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0
