would you ever let you kid model to make money?
i entred my lil boy into the supersmiler comp to be the new face of huggies and it got me thinking about baby modelling, was wondering what your opinions are on it.

If the money at least partly benefits the child, and the child is having fun and not pressured then I wouldn't see the problem. If the money made from someone's child doing photography stuff went into their gala bingo/handbag/werthers originals addiction then no, I'd not agree with it in the slightest.Debt free since 2014 - now saving for a mortgage deposit :heart2:
This time I'm on top of it! We live and learn :coffee:0 -
Me too, if the money would go in trust for the child and the child enjoys it, has no pressure and isnt pushed into it, then fair enough I guess.0

id love to have my daughter be a model as shes a right little poser and loves dressing up getting pampered etc but everywhere i have looked you have to pay a sign up fee etc!
The money i would get would go straight into the trust fund i have set up for her which will be great for when shes 18!We Make A Living By What We Get. We Make A LIFE By What We GIVE:money:
show me a man with both feet on the ground and i'll show you a man who cant get his pants off.0 -
ive got an 11 month old daughter, and i would let her do modelling work for baby clothes, and other baby products, the main thing is that the child enjoys it and sees it as fun to do.its only a bargain, if you need it or will use it.

A local man in my town, Rodney Smith from Bangor, was recently done for having indecent kids pictures on his computer.
He was also a photographer.
If i was you, no matter what age your child was, i wouldnt leave them alone with any photographer.0 -
I would never leave my daughter alone like that - and I'm sure a lot of parents wouldn't. Most photographers would insist on the parents remaining for the shoot - not just to cover themselves, but because they help them get the shot they need!
The problem is, everybody thinks their child is cute, but unless you live in London there aren't many opportunities for modelling. Lots of companies charge a fee and I bet not many of those kids get assignments...nice money making scam in many cases. The best agencies probably won't charge but will probably say (in polite terms), "Sorry, your kiddie don't make the grade!"0 -

That's very true - my brother did - they put him on a website and we never heard anything back!0 -
there was an advert in our local paper for a screening shot for childrens modelling, we went along and they told us that they would be screening 100 children and recalling 20. Anyway, we got called back but the cost of the portfolio is rediculous, £95 for 1 photo which will be sent to 1 agency, £195 for 3 photos, sent to 3 agencies and £295 for 6 photos to be sent to 6 agencies. when i looked at the stats less than 30% of those who take out any package get work, so your not actually even guaranteed to get any work!
i was going to put any money into childrens trust fund for 18th birthday like mentioned earlier and it would only be done if my lad enjoyed it, but i gave up in the end as i cannot jusitfy spending a few hundred pounds for something my son may not enjoy and may not even get any work particularly with such a low work ratio!!14.05.2015 22106.60

My friends daughter models with an excellent agency in London she is 18 months old and has now modelled for Tesco, Sainsburys, Early learning centre and has been on an advert on tv and was paid over £400. She has more money than her mum ! the agency charges £40 a year and that is for all the photos etc. So if you do go for it make sure you pick one of the big well known companies.0

All three of my children modelled and did TV work for Elisabeth Smith Modelling Agency in Harrow, London. Any money earnt goes into the childs Bank Account. The money was very good but most of all my children enjoyed it and especially loved doing TV adverts and Cinema adverts.Competitions wins 2010
