Suggestions for four year old's party!

Cheers everyone!
I like all of those ideas suggested. I spoke to DD1 about it yesterday, and to my surprise she said she thought a party at home would be 'fantastic!' I did explain that we would only be able to ask a few people, and she was full of ideas as to what we could do - I should have asked her first LOL!
So probably a couple of hours on a Sunday afternoon is what I'm going to go for, some little party bags, old party-style games and playing and kids music. In fact, being the big kid I am it sounds quite fun to me!Dealing with my debts!Currently overpaying Virgin cc -balance Jan 2010 @ 1985.65Now @ 703.63

They amaze you kids dont they, most times I think its the parents that want the "big" party for the children whereas like in your case if you ask the child they just want to have a bit of fun with their few close friends.
Hope you all have a lovely party.

I totally agree with you.
My daughter always loved going to parties but wasn't overly bothered about having one of her own. One good thing she is an august baby so we always had the adults party , all family round the house. She more than enjoyed.
My other little one is 4 soon and next weekend he got 4 parties to go to. First year in nursery and we have decided either to take him to tgi's with the family as he is so shy. I have priced up one of the venues within the area and it is £140.00 plus the food and the party bags. To be honest he would just cling to me the whole time that he is there.
What happened to the good old days of sandwiches, jelly and ice-cream. Good old memories for me.
I well believe in the kind of parties you take your child to some of them do just "Keep up with the Jones". I am not one of those.:A Tomorrow's just another day - keep smiling0 -
Exactly, DS2 was 3 a few months ago and he had a birthday tea at home with three friends from Nursery ... and that was more than enough for him! That's Numberwang!0

What about doing a princess party- dressing up clothes do some child friendly make-up maybe plait hair etc a few party games and take a picture for them to keep. with pizza to eat.
My DD went to something similar a few years back, organised by a company but you could do it all yourself cheaper.

We had a great princess party last yr for our 4 yr old and I had great fun making up the games (pass the poisoned apple, kiss the frog, hide cinderella's slipper etc). We had 11 children in a pretty small house and I was surprised at how managable it was, apart from a couple of younger boys who were completely freaked out by all the princesses!
I think its a good idea to go with your little ones interests. Not sure what we'll do this year as she's been to so many parties already, but will try not to get stressed and just enjoy - she's getting so BIG...Jan 2013 GC 0/250

Mmmh, and 'only' costs £250!! I'm much preferring the homemade £30 parties suggested above!
Definately the way to go! You know your own child better than a fairy, you could even dress up yourself
