Ways to improve credit

I have a really bad credit history from the past but just recently have been offered 2 credit cards with guaranteed acceptance - Capital One and HSBC.
I already have a Halifax Visa that I've had for years and have 7.5k credit limit but I hardly ever use it and have managed to stay in the b;ack with it.
My question is this...Now that I am a responsible money saver (have learned my lesson) should I take up these credit cards to help improve my credit rating?
I know the Capital One card is very high interest - but I don't have to use it do i? The HSBC is a normal rate offer...
Would love to hear your opinions....I mean will it really help my credit rating ??

Hi,
Considering the fact you have a Halifax Card that you rarely use, I cant see the point in getting anything else. Use the Halifax card whenever you need to and make sure you pay it off every month. That will help show you are a responsible borrower.
Plus, In the short term applying/accepting new cards is likely to have a negative effect on your credit rating.

i agree with debtbuster2k5, theres not point in getting even more credit cards, you can just use the Halifax card and make sure you pay it off every month this will help in rebuilding ur credit history
