I put castor oil in google and several links appeared.
Maybe a chemist would stock it?

  • Big chemists tend not to stock it, if you can find one of the smaller more independant chemists they may have it. If not try ebay or the web.

    HTH's.
  • Sorry I don't know where to get large quantities of castor oil from but I use olive oil for most of my basic soap making. Is there any particular reason for castor oil? I've checked my suppliers and none of them stock it.

I remember castor oil. If you were foolish enough to tell my granny that you had a sore stomach, out would come the castor oil bottle, nose held then EEEeuuuuuggggggggh. I'd never use it for anything, not even soap making.

  • Apparently castor oil gives high lather and is moderately conditioning (so less drying than coconut I expect) and only a little is needed otherwise you would end up with soft soap.
www.aromantic.co.uk sell it and I have bought other stuff from them before, so I know they are reliable. Also www.baldwins.co.uk, who I;ve never ordered from before but my friend says their stores are good. Both are in the UK.

I have ordered other ingredients from The Soap Kitchen and found them very reliable.
