What is worth making instead of buying?

cakes, buns and scones are all far nicer home made.

Also pasta sauces (bought stuff always gives me indigestion).

Have to say though packet pasta every time the slightly better taste of the HM stuff in no way makes up for the amount of hassle incurred in making it IMHO...

I can't honestly think of anything that is better bought rather than homemade -chocolate maybe Homemade is always cheaper too.

I make
bread -easy even without a breadmaker
yogurt -with a yogurt-maker, but not necessary
hummus
soup
biscuits, cakes, in fact all baked goods
pastry
jams and jellies, marmalade
chutney, pickles
granola
popcorn, munchy seeds
pizza
pasta and pizza sauce
ice cream -with a machine
stock

Sugar in Yoghourt, I used to add a sweetener tablet to each container as it was being made as i don't have 'proper' sugar, but suppose you could use castor sugar or liquid sweetener instead
