Anyone been to the fabric shop in Harrogate, just near The Stray in High Harrogate. It's fot such fab things there. I spent a lot of time (and ££!!) there yesterday developing my stash. Not cheap, but great quality fabrics. If only I could remember what it's called.... it's on the bag... in another room. It willl also appear on the credit card bill in due course.
Have now worn my first project since I started to sew again. I'm not absolutely happy with it, but happy that I have got going again after so many years not sewing. I can't expect to get everything right immediately.
Here we are, the link to the lovely shop in Harrogate.

I dance and the costumes are horrendously expensive, so I sew my own, and then they're very reasonable and also become very special and part of my creativity.
There are some good dance costume patterns free online...Started paying off debt in Sept 07, inspired by this website :-) Almost 7.7k debt, now 2.9k (end of June 08):T
Main things we've been doing:

We had a quote for stage wear which came in at near to £200 per unit...for sizes up to 18. Over that and they were 25-45% more I believe! There are more than 50 of us and some are generously proportioned. So we're doing our own!"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

I used to go there all the time when I lived in Manchester, I could never only buy what I needed though as they had so much to choose from. I also used to go to Stockport market on a Friday which was good then 90's. I've since moved to the Midlands and still miss Leons, they have Barry's in Birmingham but it's not the same at all. I really miss that shop, the staff were lovely and I had some real bargains.
That has reminded me to get my finger out and find where the heck I've put my foot pedals for my machines, 3 machines and not a pedal in sight (I've moved my craft room from the loft to the spare room and now can't find anything).
Happy sewingI won't buy it if I can make or borrow it instead

Does anyone know of any free nightie patterns online, preferably like the old fashioned cotton, drawn thread, embroidered styles. I have tried searching but no luck. I was wondering if anyone had found any gems?Pucker up and kiss it Whoville! - The Grinch:kiss:0

Big thanks to you all for this thread! Following a random question with my dear Mum about wishing I had black out curtains and that I could make my own party dress, she's brought me a sewing machine. Am going to spend the weekend teaching myself how to sew!! xx0
