I'm the sort of person who would deliberately drop something, so I've got an excuse to bend over and pick up a 1p I've seen on the ground. Or point it out to DS (3) and say, look, there's a penny! Because there's something cute about a little kid picking change off the ground that just doesn't work in adults.

So my plan is to train him to find the biggest, longest Tesco receipts he can. I think if I set a minimum points gain so it won't be so bad, but I ain't standing at customer services to ask for 1 point to be credited for a pint of milk from a receipt with a dirty footprint and distinct puddle stains on it! Maybe for 2 points...!

You can tell I've been putting some thought into this! Thanks Pania, another thing to add to my list of embarassing things that I've started doing to make money!

OK guys, our wombling ways have been rumbled!!!

Further to a post on a thread a few days ago regarding the adding on of clubcard points to our cards, I thought i'd seek the official verdict from a tesco manager.

Apparently as people were "collecting" bunches of receipts from the floor and trolleys and getting them all added on at the same time, causing great long ques (at a loss of profit to tesco obviously!:D ) Tesco have decided that they can add a maximum of 2 receipts to your card per visit to the store.
There is no limit of how many can be added per month and receipts aren't apparently generally checked for card numbers etc.

So long may wombling continue, just divide your collection up and only take two at a time!!:D

Hope this helps. If not, sorry.

    Love and big hugs:D

i have alays been an "oooh look they left their receipt behind!" kind of person, just never realised that it had a technical term until i was told last week! LOL. I have picked one up off the floor previously but was a nice fresh and new one! not got to the level of slightly mucky yet but give it time!!!

Just a thought, I know someone above mentioned adding on their other half's petrol receipts.

My other half and I both have jobs where we have access to "pool" type cars - totally different jobs, but same idea in principle when it comes to wombling. Each car comes with a fuel card, kept in the vehicle and in both our cases receipts are simply put in the same folder as the fuel card. These can easily be used for wombling!

Just don't go too OTT as some people in the past have had warnings after too much wombling!

You don't want to lose any legit points either!

I drive a Home Delivery Van for ASDA - I had been filling up with diesel at Tesco, using the fuel card, for my points. Last Friday, someone put a notice up, in the depot, telling us that we are no longer allowed to purchase fuel at either Tesco, Sainsbury's or Morrison's.

  • Sorry, does all this mean we just use the barcode on the receipts others have left behind???

If so, I'm off bin-raking at Tesco!

I have just found out about the term 'wombling' and found it very funny!!

also...if you get friendly with the staff.... they may put your clubcard points on for more than 2 receipts! Purely for the fact that i know the till doesnt stop and say 'no more for today' etc... If there is no que then i dont think they would mind the odd 1 or 2 more. If you go to the little stores then there bonus is part based on the amount of que there is in case a mystery shopper comes along. If there is more than 2 people queing at one time when there is a till not being used then they will fail and not get their bonus. This is one of the main reasons for this being introduced.

  • Think staff have been sacked for doing that and keeping the till splits...
