Better house or greater financial freedom?

I can't believe that a 5 bed house would be only £55k more than a 3 bed - in our area, a 3 bed semi is around £150 - 200k , a 5 bed large house would be well over £350k! You're talking £230k+ for a 4 bed extended semi.
I would jump at it, we have one spare room and would love 3 spares - one each!
I would look for all the little niggly things that you never think about when viewing - how big is the drive, what is parking/ traffic like on the road outside, how close is your nearest neighbour, what noise can you hear from inside the house, are there enough plug sockets, etc. etc.
It's shame you can't test drive a house - how many people who bought spontaneosly have regretted not doing more research?
I love my house, but I'm starting to detest the location, it was a quiet little cul de sac in a quiet village 10 years ago but now the avenue gets clogged with parked cars because people are too lazy to use the huge drives we all have.
The traffic through the village is a nightmare, even more so since they started building a huge development down the road next to Morrissons - traffic was bad before, with 200 houses and a health centre to come it can only get much much worse. Plus they are starting work on a new college half a mile away soon. My only hope is that it all pushes house prices up and we can move elsewhere."There is a light that never goes out"0 -
GO FOR IT. If you like it, you have to have it. i have two nippers, but I sooooo wish I had more than 3 bedrooms. Parents stay sometimes when i am working early, the sleeping arrangements are difficult, mty OH snores, and I wish I had a spare room, kids are sick and some one has to get up for work, why both be tired?????
Then working from home/ homework rooms, you can't really have TOO MUCH space when you have got kids. Then they have friend for sleep overs, should I go on????quote]
I'd agree about space especially if you are plannning on having kids, we have 4 beds and it allows us to have one as a study/guest bed ( I am studying p/t) and for me and DH to have our own rooms - DH snores horribly and DS (aged 3) has health problems which mean he is often ill in the night. It means at least one of us can get a decent nights sleep even if DS is up all night throwing up.DEBT: £500 credit card £800 Bank overdraft
