    Hi all,

Firstly, please accept my apologies if this is not posted in the correct place but I was looking for some advice regarding Phoenix Trading. I'm looking to make a wee bit extra income and like the look of this company and their products. However I am unsure about the £45 initial outlay to get the starter pack - is it worth the money?

Also, from studying the site it appears that you can create your own website within Phoenix Trading - does this incur an additional cost, and is it worth it to boost sales?

Any opinions/advice greatly appreciated. Thank you.

A friend of mine sells stuff to friends from Phoenix Trading. She has been doing it a while, if you want me to get some info from her, just PM me. :)

Well the one question that hasn't been answered so far is, do they give you a web site.

Their FAQ say say no internet advertising, but some thinks they give you a web site.

Their website says that it is an option and that if you input a traders name you could be taken to their website. I think that feature is 'coming soon' but I am not yet involved with Pheonix so can't say for sure, this is just what I read.

By the way, I saw on a forumthat one lady had signed up for Pheonix but no one would buy from her saying that they can get them cheaper in the High Street. This is true to a point as we also have a Card Warehouse near us, but I am expecting the cards from Pheonix to be better quality. Can anyone from Pheonix tell us if they have ever had anyone turn them down due to being able to get cards cheaper in the shops?

Each Phoenix Trader works for themself. They build up their customers through word of mouth, friends, family, fairs and school groups etc. Every brochure given out has a trader name on it. If a customer wants to buy cards again they can contact the trader via the website if they remember their name. Anyone can look at the brochure online and then order through their own trader, even paying with a credit card if they wish. You cannot buy cards directly from the company. Otherwise if "your" particular trader does not have a webpage you can order through the brochure and then ring them up/email etc but chances are they don't take credit/debit cards, just cash or cheque. The web page works well if the trader you usually buy from lives quite away away from you!
Phoenix charge their traders a small monthly fee for this. I think it is £5 a month. So each trader can decide whether a £60 a year outlay is worth it to their business.
I hope this helps answer some of the above questions.

I've just checked and there is an initial set up fee of £35 and then it is £5 per month thereafter for the webpage!

I tried this but they ignored my request after I told them I saw them mentioned on a website. I think you need to have the name of another trader to get anywhere.

Thank you all very much for all of your help. I'm slightly dubious about the website side of things and the costs involved, but I'm very grateful for all of the information Elljay.

I think I'll have to have a good long think about all this, and all the great points that everyone has made.

Thanks, a small minded company run by women who shouldn't be in business. They weren't involved with Betamax by any chance, were they?

It was originally set up by 4 women but the M.D is male. And it is not a small minded company. They are very professional and have won some prestigious DSA awards.

Sammz, you do really need the name of a Trader so that if you need training or help or just advice, someone is there to give it to you. If you don''t have a name they usually allocate someone who lives near to you, so that if you have any questions from the info pack or need any start up advice you can contact them and see them on a one to one basis if you need to rather than speaking to someone over the phone. The "sponsorer" is then responsible for looking after you!!!
