MONEY MORAL DILEMMA: Should Bob get a lodger?

  • I take offence at the comment that it is unheard of for absent mother to pay child suport. Just like to point out as an absent mother - I paid my child support regularly and on time - once the CSA had got their head around the fact that I was the absent parent!
  • Two over-14s sharing a bedroom is officially considered overcrowding: unless the bedroom is gigantic you can't reasonably expect 3 teenagers to share. Would there be storage space (e.g. an attic) for their belongings if they couldn't fit them all in their bedroom or in communal rooms?
There are also potential safety and privacy issues involved, even with a lodger who comes with good references (and I don't want to be sexist but I wouldn't want to take a male lodger into my home with teenage daughters, just in case). Bob should put his children's needs first and struggle on until at least one (preferably all of them) either move out or become able to contribute significantly to the household budget.

Don't get another female, think of the plumbing.
