It is my brother-in-law's 40th soon and I never know what to buy him at the best of times so I am looking for some inspiration. Anyone got any ideas?

I bought vouchers for my parents anniversary - they can be used at pubs for meals, Marriott hotels, some holiday companys. They love them and want them every year now!

Also depends on how much you want to spend?
My wife bought me a balloon ride for my 40th...fantastic.
I bought my 18 year daughter a driving experience (yes she has a licence) she drove a new mini round a race track, and a Farrari round the same rack, then she drove a coach, she found it a wonderful experience. As a 40 something, I would love to have done all that myself...very envious! Had to just watch instead! I am making hints for my 50th!!!
How about a glider flight? Or a plane flight where you can take the controls?
There are lots of places you can buy these things, https://www.buyagift.com, or Boots I think do simular trips, do a Google search for simular companies.
Oh just thought of another good one, how about getting a news paper for the day he was born. I like that idea too and a bit cheaper.
I find that for a 40th birthday, presents are pretty useless, give him something to really remember.
Good luck.
