Starbucks card vs Costas card

I was wondering if anyone had any experience of the Starbucks or Costas cards.
I have decided that as myself and my hubby and son like to go out for coffee at the weekends one way to budget for this is to get a coffeeshop card and load it at the start of the month so I can budget more wisely.
We are pretty thrift when it comes to our drinks choices. My hubby had an Americano or coffee of the day (in Stabucks) and I have an Americano, Cappuchino or a tea. My young son likes a babychino which are free in Starbucks and 50p in Costas.
I am inclined towards Starbucks due to the free child's drink which is easily topped up at the milk and sugar bar so our two adult drink normally cost us about £3.50 a time.
What I really want to know about is the perks of being in the Starbucks or Costas system - ie does having the card give you free drinks or cakes or money off if you top up by a particular percentage?
If I do decide to go with just one store is it worth having two cards between myself and my husband to maximum our benefits?
I am sure there is someone out there who knows!!
Thanks

Each to their own, but why anyone would want to pay £3.50 for flavoured water is beyond me !
Hopefully somebody will be able to provide you with an answer though.0 -
The only advantage of both cards is not having to carry cash.
Personally prefer starbucks as they do a filter coffee.0 -
I prefer Costa and from time to time they put small amounts of money on your card - perhaps when you use it 4 times in a month. They would notify you of this prior to the month by e-mail. If you like both then have a card for each and divide your spending between the two - best of both worlds.Middlers0

i have the starbucks card, no freebies except once around xmas where i got a free eggnog latte (dont drink them anyway so gave it to a guy at work).
one thing i will say is their CS is fantastic, i lost my wallet a lil while ago, it was a landline number, they picked up straight away, the woman was in england and lovely (sorry you lost your wallet etc) and the card arrived in about a week with all my money on it!Yes Your Dukeiness0 -
Why not use a friendly local coffee shop, with personal service, much better coffee, home-made scones/teacakes etc, and all half the price?0
