strange request - can anyone help?

Hi
This may sound strange one, but i would be so grateful if someone could help me.

Last week there was a programme on debt ' tonight - new year debt buster'. I think it was on Friday night. Basically they spoke to people that were in debt especially after xmas, etc, and running up cards, etc. They also spoke to a woman who said she went cold turkey and stopped spending to clear her debts.

This woman was also on earlier on in the week on one of the morning programmes like good morning/lorraine, and she told the same thing and said she had written a book about her experiences.

Both times i have managed to miss who she was and what the book was called. Can anyone help me? I would be interested in reading her book, but so far have had no luck searching the internet, etc.

Hope someone can help. Thanks
What's he building in there???

Just checked, and for those who are interested you can watch this online at itv.com
  • I don't think it was her, I'm not 100% on that though...

If you have windows you can watch the episode again through ITV's free catch up internet service.

But I think her name is Alexis Hall and the book called 'Into the Red'; I did a quick amazon search :)

I think I saw her on the morning TV programme - little Scottish woman with loads of Mulberry handbags? I wasn't too impressed with her to be honest - I think there are a lot of us who have done what she has (ie stopped spending ridiculous amounts of money on luxury items we don't need), but for some reason she's managed to write a book about it. Fair play to her for that I suppose, but I did think at the time that it was a book I wouldn't be rushing out to buy.

I think the debt diaries here are probably far more inspiring, and a lot cheaper than her book, but please let us know otherwise if I'm totally wrong! I've maybe become too tight with the cash, and too cynical. It could well be a very good read that helps someone.

If you really want to read the book order it from you local library. Even if they charge you a nominal amount for an inter library loan its got to be cheaper than buying the book.
Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)

I think her name is Alexis Hall and the book is called "In the Red - the Diary of a Recovering Shopaholic" - do a search on Amazon and you should find it.

    Hi guys
Thanks loasds for the info. Yep, it's the small scottish lady with all the hand bags :rotfl:
Def gonna look into the library option. I think you are right about the diaries on here being more of an inspiration, cos everyone admits they aren't a saint all the time and discuss their mistakes too.
    Thanks again
