How do I go about setting a challenge to clear my debts???

Hi all,
Hope you can help. I'm in debt to the tune of about 20,000, we lost our home having sold it to repay creditors and feel like we are facing an uphill battle as I'm sure lots of people can empathise with. I'm so keen to make this a better year, having just watched my 2 year old son go through major surgery and come through the other side. I'm very determined to start making provisions for my children financially, but can't see any light, and the hope of ever being on the property ladder again seems a fairy tale.
I have taken the step to voluntarily surrender my car early having paid the agreed half way, but have had to take out another agreement for another car (necessary) although I have managed to reduce my payments by £100 which i'm chuffed about.
Any help to chisel any more of my debts would be so appreciated.
Many thanks

We have quite a few going on the board at the moment sasp.
There's the pay of £20k challenge (there's lots of people doing £5k/£10k/£15k too!)
There's a live on £4k for the year challenge.
There's a sealed pot challenge.
There's an Olympic Challenge.
This is where the sticky would be useful
Do you have your SOA to hand? I've found the best boost is to snowball at www.whatsthecost.com - then you'll see how paying it off in the correct way will save you a fortune in interest! No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -

I have just been on to that thread, am feeling very motivated and cant believe what I spend in an year on magazines!
Am going to write out a budget planner and see my debts etc in writing tomorrow. Feel like I have made a tiny step, and my son has to be my inspiration, as he has been through so much (major head op) and did not ask for any of it. I am responsible for my debts and cannot continue being an ostrich with head in sand any longer.
Thank goodness have found this site. Am off to get a good night sleep!:j"You know, somebody actually complimented me on my driving today. They left a little note on the windscreen, it said 'Parking Fine.'"
