Multi-instrumentalist and songwriter, Steve Knightley began performing in the folk clubs and pubs of his native west country aged fourteen. He moved to London in the early eighties and for six years was involved in the mainstream rock music scene. He then returned to Dorset and with Phil Beer formed England’s foremost acoustic duo Show of Hands in 1992. As a writer Steve has a close connection to ‘place’ and his songs deal with the darker side of rural life finding rich source of characters and settings in the countryside.
Steve’s successful solo tour in 2007 and release of his best selling solo album “Cruel River” has prompted him to once again hit the road. Colin Irwin in Mojo wrote “The power of his writing can no longer be denied’.
Audiences are in for an evening of literate, haunting songs played with power and passion.
