Help - Vegan on a Hen Weekend and I'm catering!

I've managed to get her main meals and breakfast sorted, but I'm a lunch short.
The other girls are having sandwiches (apart from the gluten free person who is having ricecakes and ham and cheese). I've got some salady bits but I'm worried all she'll eat all weekend is salad as I think that's pretty much what she'll end up with on the Fri eve and a vegan version of mousakka on the saturday night with salad.
What can I feed her?! Help!
Also, I can't find a pub in the area local to us that will do a vegan lunch for our sunday lunch we were planning. Would it be incredibly rude of me to book up anyway and hope that they can do something for her?
I'm trying to do a tesco order now to get all the food sorted and completely hit a mental block - any ideas?!!!

What about some tartex pate (for sandwiches)? Its gorgeous, it is for sale in out local co-op, so Tesco might have it (don't have one near me).

Just had a look on tesco.com and they don't seem to have any. They don't seem to have lots of things though (including carrots?!!!) so I think I'm going to have to do an extra shop to take with me anyway so I'll keep my eye out. Thank you!
Ooh, do you think she can eat marmite?0 -
Booking a pub is very risky as lots of places don't actually know what being vegan entails even if you explain it and you end up with things like honey or certain wine in stuff making it unsuitable. Maybe call the pub and ask first.
Does it have to be pub food? Most southern indian and japanese restaurants tend to know what vegan food is and have lots on their menus without having to specifically ask for something different.
This website is very useful for searching products that are vegan friendly, even the most normal thing like bread can contain animal products so its best to check everything http://www.isitvegan.info/0 -
Tesco nut cutlets are vegan and very nice cold in a bun so maybe that could be a good substitute for the butties that everyone else is having0

Yeah, marmite should be vegan - but check if she likes it as its a love it hate it kind of thing!0

Is there a Holland & Barrett in your area? They sell lots of vegan food such as 'Tofutti' Cream Cheese and Redwood Foods which are all vegan - there's cheese (Cheezly), bacon, sausages or 'Cheatin' meats, all great in sandwiches.
If you are buying from Tesco they haven't got a great vegan selection but there's enough, there's falafel and houmous which are great together or on their own and there's a vegan margarine called Pure spread.
For your Sunday lunch, most pubs don't have vegan meals on the menu but if you ask them in advance they should oblige. If not, as suggested by someone else why not try an Indian restaurant. Also most Chinese restaurants do Tofu.
I hope this helps!

hi, vegan here. Marmite is vegan, humous, tahini (sesami paste, a bit like peanut butter), some mexican chilli bean pastes i think they do one at asda, if it were me i'd love a falafel and humous pitta bread with a bit of salad in there. Don't worry too much, we vegans are quite used to eating salad when we go out, don't let this spoil your excitement of the hen do, just enjoy it, there will be something on any menu that she can eat so don't panic!0

chips and beans are vegan - I bet the pub can do chips and beans. Or a baked spud (no butter) and beans or pasta in tomato sauce. With salad. My partner is Vegan and always manges to find somethingThe truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

Thanks for all of your help - I was having a little panic about whether it would all be ok and I think I've got enough food for her now! I've never really cooked for a vegan before and everything sensible I thought of seemed really dull!
Thanks again!0 -
