Define invest.
work out how much you would be paying in interest over the next x years for your mortgage until it is paid off, then see how much your windfall would need to make in interest to make it worthwhile.
Probably better paying off most of the mortgage and having a little nest egg. After falling off the gambling wagon (twice): £33,600 (24,000+ 9,600) - Original CC Debt: £7,885.91
Dad Gift 6k ¦ Savings & Inv Tst: £2,500
Loan 10k: £0 ¦ Dad 5.5k: £2,270 ¦ LTSB: £0 ¦ RBS: £0 ¦ Virgin £0 ¦ Egg £0
Total Owed: £2,270 (+6k) 11/08/20110 -
Pay off the mortgage as the interest you'll be paying on it will be more than you would be earning if you invested it..Total 'Failed Business' Debt £29,043

I should be in a position to pay my mortgage off this year and that is my intention. I wouldn't call it fortunate though. I'd much rather have my Dad back.0

I also need some help. I plan to pay off mortgage next week and so have
an appointment with bank to do this. However, is there anything I need
to know before I see them. They mentioned keeping a small mortgage £125 as some sort of deed retention, but not sure the benefits of this or whether
to pay off in full. once I pay off in full is there anything I need to know about or do ?0
