I picked up a bag of frozen casserole beef from tesco today (have never bought frozen meat)
I want to use it for a casserole in my slow cooker and it says it is cook from frozen...do any of you use this in your slow cooker? and if so, how do I do it? I would like to brown it first but will this work ok?
Any tips would be appreciated..

I would prefer to defrost it before using in my slow cooker.
Otherwise it will take ages to get up to temp.
I don't bother browning meat first, pale and interesting.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no: 203.0 -
I bung frozen meat into the stockpot with the sauce at about 7am on the higher setting, and it's perfect by the time I get in at 6pm. I do this with chicken, beef, pork, lamb, sausages ... never had a problem yet.0

I've used the frozen one several times. I brown/heat it through in a large frying pan first. Then bung it in the SC as normal.0

I've found that even with defrosted meat, the meat is tough when we come to eat it if we just slap it in the slow cooker. Admittedly we tend to use the 'Auto' rather than 'High' setting. My mother suggested browning and heating it up first...which definitely helped.0

Can you leave the SC on High all day? I've only done this for an hour at the beginning or end, but nervous of using anything but uto when I'm out all day.
I'm looking at buying the meat the OP has got for the first time at the weekend, though I'll probably make a fresh pie rather than SC it so will need to defrost it!0
