take home pay with second job-working out?

My son works full time and he has an interview for a sat/sun job to get some extra income. I realise that all his wages will be taxed but dont know how much all the other deductions may be ie nat insurance etc. For arguments sake lets say the second job will be 5000 pa how can i work out his take home pay. He wants to see if will actually be worth doing a second job or not? thanks

His tax allowance will be used up by his full time job.
The second job pay should be taxed using BR as the tax code.
Put BR and the figures into this calculator http://www.listentotaxman.com/ to get your answer.

as a second job the NI allowance will be used on the 1st job. So should pay 11% NI on all earnings with 2nd job.

    sorry - wasn't clear.

will owe 11% NI on all earnings in 2nd job, so won't actually pay enough on your method.

I'm not sure what you mean :confused:

In a second job you receive your allowences again unlike tax.
