We've played House of Fraser and Furniture Village off against eachother on a Relyon bedframe that they both have a slightly different version of. Furniture Village seemed very open to pricematching and flexible on price (but that owes a great deal to the outrageously good negotiating skills of Mr Phirefly).

Gutted though as it was due to be delivered this week but we had a call today to say theres been a delay in the manufacturing and it won't be delivered until APRIL:eek: . The best they could do was full refund or knock the £40 delivery charge off as goodwill. Doesn't really earn my goodwill though as we'd already opted to collect from the depot ourselves for free. Chap said he'd still take the £40 off but despite mr P's best efforts that was the best he could do.

Looks like we're camping out for another couple of months :(

Why are you so stuck on Relyon? They are a good make, but you could find just as good if you shop around, especially on line, and far quicker delivery.

With beds you are sometimes better off NOT going for the big brand names.

    What a strange comment.

I'm not 'stuck on relyon'. I'm just especially picky about furniture and design in my home and I've found Relyon are the only company who make his one particular style of bedframe that I want.

You're talking to someone who's been shopping around for a bedframe for several months and the upshot of this is that from initially liking an And So To Bed bedframe that is £2000, I went on to discover that Relyon do a version for £1300, and then found that they also supply HoF and FV with an ever-so-slightly different version of this bed for under £500. Mr P then negotiated a discount off this from FV.

Im off to teach my grandmother to suck eggs now :p

Was this a divan bed, or a bedstead?

It is very very unlikely that the bed for under £500 will be close to the £2000 in construction. They may appear so on the outside, but it is the internal components that will be different.

Its a bedstead and I'm aware it will not be such high quality, but price is a more important factor for me currently. These beds are cheaper too as they are not made in the UK unlike the Relyon main range. The idea is that perhaps a few years down the line we'll relegate it to the spare room and get the And So To Bed Of My Dreams....

I presume it is too late for you now, but for anyone else reading this: Beds are one of the few things that you can still find huge geniune discounts on line, you just need to shop around. The reason high street bed stores are so expensive is because they often put between 400 and 500% mark up on beds.

You're repeating yourself! So I will repeat myself too - I DID shop around online, for months and months! I've visited pretty much every bed website going and phoned the majority too. As such I'm pretty happy with paying £460 incl. delivery for a bed thats on most websites for £800....

But if you're up for the challenge, find me a kingsize

    Reflections_range?wid=420

for under £460. Theres a prize in it forya.... ;)

*why aren't images inserting properly today???*

I wonder why Tim Deegan keeps repeating himself. Has it got anything to do with the fact that he is an online retailer of beds!!!

There maybe a big markup on bottom end of the market beds, but there certainly isn't a huge markup in top end beds like Relyon.

Heheh I know this. Hence my challenge to him to source us the bed. His prize is he gets the order from us. Hear that, Tim?!

Yes I have repeated myself because I see so many people still getting ripped off by high street stores who add huge mark ups. An example of this the the fact that you can get a similar bed to the one you show in the link in 4'6" for £144.

Yes I am a retailer, and most people on here know I am as I don't hide the fact, and I don't advertise on here. I'm on here to give advice and try and stop people getting ripped off.
