Chocolate for Chocolate Fountains

Anyone know where I can buy chocolate for Chocolate Fountains? OH was given a Chocolate Fountain by a work colleague  .

I've found some by a company called Giles & Posner on the Internet, but wanted to know if any nationwide companies stock it.

  • I use normal chocolate or fudge! Works just as well I found.

I tried every type of chocolate but didn't like the idea of adding oil - found Asda's cheap chocolate (blue wrapper) is exactly right consistency - no oil required, flows perfectly

I've used asda and cheap chocolate from lidl and aldi. all are fine...especially with a few drops of brandy or liqueur!

I spotted some of the Giles & Posner chocolate for chocolate fountains in our local Robert Dyas shop recently, I think it was about £5 or £6 though!

I use Tesco's own brand and it works fine for mine - add some steaming hot evaporated milk if its too thick.

Toffee - now thats something I must try! Im salivating thinking about it - what toffee do you melt down?

I bought a 900g bag of Giles & Posner milk chocolate for fountains in BHS just before christmas, i'm sure it cost £10 for the bag.

I have been trying to get hold of thorntons fountain chocolate but it has been out of stock since before chritmas. I think thorntons is priced at £3.50 per bag but most fountains will need two bags.

I havent used any other chocolate but i know those who have used ordinary cheap bars of choc and added oil, they said it was fine.

    Hope this helps.

  • It is purely dependant on taste really, but as I own and operate a chocolate fountain rental company, I would only ever use Belgian chocolate in my fountains.
The best is called Barry Callebaut (the one that Thorntons use and sell)
Put chocolate fountain and your home town into Google and phone some of them up. You will find that local chocolate fountain companies will usually sell you some of their chocolate.
Failing that...you can usually buy Giles and Posner from large department stores, like John Lewis, or can buy off the internet.
If both of these options are too expensive (you only get good quality chocolate if you are prepared to pay for it) use the best chocolate you can afford.
When life throws you lemons...put them in a gin and tonic !!
