I was looking at a few of the different options suggested by Martin's article and also looked at two others - Tesco's and Nectar. For my clutch of mobiles though, the best deal would probably be one that Virgin seem to have just started. I had an email from them and it goes through to a very similar website to Tesco's and Nectar's. Like Tesco and Nectar, the phone only has to turn on, have no damage to the screen nor have been water damaged (so an easier test to pass than Envirofone's, I believe, particularly for one of my phones which I know has been dropped and scratched a few times on the casing). Virgin would then give you the value in airtime, so really only an advantage for Virgin Mobile customers. Otherwise, if you are collecting Tesco clubcard points, there's would have represented the most value on my particular phones if they were converted to points to use on Clubcard Deals.

  • i have use these before but unless you have a half decent phone u wont get much money they are quick sending you a free post bag and they quick to send the cheque but they pay as little as possiable
  • You'll generally get a lot more on ebay for a phone if it's vaguely recent.

Older phones and these sites give you £1.50 if your lucky. Best to do the tesco recycle for very old phones as you get 300 clubcard points (used to be 500) if the phone turns on, no matter what phone it is. Envelopes in store.

I've got a very old Motorola m3788 which is working but the battery needs replacing. Will this count as a working phone?

We got 3x more than any of the other sites were offering for DH's phone through Mopay and the cheque came through quickly.
