Netto or Aldi?

I have to go shopping today, mainly to stock up on cleaning products and laundry products.

I have a Nettos that I can walk to in a few minutes or an Aldi that is a 10 minute drive away?

Is there much difference between them? in other words, is there a good reason why I should make the extra journey to get to Aldi over Netto which is practically on my doorstep?

I prefer Aldis. In terms of quality I think it is very much better on fresh items and on frozen stuff. Nettos tinned tomatoes are cheaper, that's all I can think of. But Aldi's seems to have more to choose from and personally I find it a nicer place to shop.

I like Aldi's vegetable lasagne and their pizza. Blocks of parmesan are very good value too.

There is a thread somewhere on here that compares Aldi netto and Lidl which is very useful for knowing which products to get from each and what to avoid. I made a big list in my notebook so whichever one i go to I have the heads up on what to buy.

  • Thanks, I would like to see that thread that compares the three shops if someone can point me in the right direction?
  • On the whole I prefer Aldi, dishwashing tablets and multi purpose cleaner are good as are a great many of their food items and special offers (everything from tools to tv's). Christmas specials are usually German and are heaven to marzipan freaks like me! I only ever buy marmalade there, it's exactly how it should taste.
(Sadly) Netto is nearer so I go there more often.
Aldi sell very few brands you would recognise but are high-ish quality. Not superior maybe, but give M&S a run for their money IMO.
Netto sell quite alot of branded goods but aren't always cheaper.
Lidl is 25+ miles away so never been.
