I wanna repair my video camera

Hello

I've got a Canon MV600o digital video camera which needs repairing. I can switch it on but can't get a picture to display through the viewfinder or the pull out screen. I haven't got the lenscap on!! Any suggestions on what the problem could be and how to fix it, or alternatively any ideas on what the repair costs would be and where I could get it done?

Many thansk

  • Seems like the CCD Sensor has packed up, Had the same problem with my JVC Camcorder, Kept saying LENS CAP ON when it was not. Actually found out from another site that this was a common problem. I contacted JVC who confirmed that yes, there was a problem with certain JVC Models and mine was one of them, They have repaired the camcorder for free, it would have cost around £140.00 if i had not stumbled across the post in another forum. Worth contacting Canon direct. Good luck
  • Thank you for your help. It seems it is a CCD problem. Can't believe we haven't used it for so long because we thought it was completely busted. I only checked because I wanted to record my daughter.

The details for anyone else who might be interested from the Canon website are below.

    Solutions
Thank you for using one of our Canon products.
It has been found, that in rare case, some of the CCDs, used in Canon digital camera and digital video cameras, have a problem that causes abnormal image output.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused. Canon will offer free repairs where an error is caused by this malfunction.

Canon would like to advise our customers of the details of this issue and our policy for handling it.

    Problem details:
Among the CCDs used in the affected products, it has been confirmed that in extremely rare cases, under high-temperature/high-humidity environments, some of the internal wiring comes off.

If this defect occurs, the signal is not output from the CCD correctly when in shooting mode. This results in image abnormalities such as:
    Images do not appear
    Image colors are abnormal
    Images appear distorted
These symptoms can be confirmed on the LCD monitor.
    Solution:
We kindly request users who have confirmed these symptoms to contact the nearest Canon Service Centre.

Free repairs will be made for affected products in cases where it has been confirmed that the internal CCD wiring has come off.
