Posting to the United States

I want to post some small items (maybe containing a jumper or two) to the United States? Time isn't at a premium but there seems to be so many different services and ways of costing them. I have often bought clothes from the US and the delivery seems to be reasonable $10-$20 although taking a few weeks to arrive. I thought there might be unusual ways or companies that I hadn't considered before able to offer a service and that someone out there might have some experience of this or just know the best company/way of doing it.

thanks.

The only way I have found so far for small one off parcels is sadly Parcel Force / Royal Mail, services like DHL , UPS, Red Star cost the earth. Of course you could try and find a friend or someone at work going to the USA.
My Mind wanders, if found please return.

Just a thought - if time really isn't of the essence then surface mail is a whole lot cheaper than airmail, with standard Royal Mail. If it is only a couple of items airmail may not be that expensive anyway. I have used thick plastic mailing bags to cut down on the weight, especially as they weigh to the nearest 20g for overseas. You can send parcels up to 2 kg with Royal Mail (as opposed to Parcelforce).

BTW, US airmail prices do seem to be a lot cheaper than sending it the other way.

    thanks.

If the parcels are under 2 kilos you have the small packet option. Suface is about half the price of air packet but it takes 6 to 8 weeks. This service is uninsured (just the max compensation of £30), so dont use it if the contents are valuable.
