Moneysaving and helping the environment

I've just spent today at a training day to become a local events organiser for WWF - fantastic day, but what brought it home to me was by doing the small things you can save the environment/planet. And, it was also brought home to me that by doing these things, you can save money as well! Sorry, this might sound a bit obvious, but it was amazing the things we were being told that people kept piping up "but I do that"! It really is the small things, like switching off lights, not running water when brushing your teeth, that sort of thing, that brought it home to me. I'm aware that a bit of what we were being told was WWF marketing/propagenda, but it really did make me think about the small things I do that could (a) help our planet and (b) save money. For example, I take the car to the local shop at the weekend. it's about minus 5 up here tonight, normally tomorrow morning I would de-ice the car, start it for 10 mins to defrost it and warm it up, drive (and I barely get out of third gear to get to the shop, it's that close to me), and then come back. Tomorrow morning I will be walking down there, ice and all, lug all my papers back (all of which get re-cycled anyway) but it did make me think as to what small things I do day by day that I could change just a little bit, and be more environmentally friendly, but also save time and money!

I know it's obvious when you think about it, but spending the day today with people who really cared about the effects of the things we do today and what the detriment could be to the planet tomorrow has made me really think about my actions!
