Hi
I was just wondering if anyone has any experience of volunteering for women's aid? I am a student with some time outside of my course and i'd like to get experience of working in a refuge. Any input greatly appreciated x

In the absence of other replies, I'm sure someone on a thread about leaving abusive partner in another thread said they were working or had worked from Women's Aid, so might be worth skimming the Families Board for that and maybe sending a pm.
However, expect it to take time to get through the induction process. I would expect them to have a fairly rigorous system, including taking up references and carrying out a CRB check on you, possibly formal training before you start as well.
Not wanting to put you off, but the charity I work for has a similar client group (very vulnerable women), and it can take 3 months or longer before they 'start'. So, you might want to think about whether that time is likely to be available to you 3, 6, 9 and 12 months down the line.
But phone your local Women's Aid and ask them how you'd go about this. Although I wouldn't expect them to give you the address of your nearest refuge and invite you to pop round, you can at least find out what's involved in becoming a volunteer.
And best of luck!Signature removed for peace of mind0
