Ok, after some consultation with slightly more techie associates. Have decided might buy my dad a 'creative zen' mp3 player for birthday (am clubbing together with other relatives)
any recommendations - good/bad
or suggestions on where to buy? I dont think we have time to do mail order.
Thanks!

What Zen are you after? The Zen Micro (5GB) or the Zen Touch (20 or 40 GB)??
I have the black Zen Micro, and I love it. The removable battery is a real reassuring feature as when the battery starts to get old I can just replace it with a new cell. The battery life is great and the sound quality is brilliant. There is a well-documented battery drain issue when the player is in the off/standby mode, but this isn't really a problem and the next firmware update is supposed to solve this by putting the player into deep sleep mode after 4 hours of non play instead of 24 hours.
All in all it is a great player. I can't do without mine.
I bought it from Boots online, using a couple of codes (from the codes section of the forum) and got it for about £118 in March. I got £6.72 worth of Advantage card points too.Boo!0
