Guacamole

Hello

Sorry if there is a thread for this already but any ideas for making homemade guacamole.

I buy it quite a lot and it costs £1.99 each time.

Thanks for the help.

Guacamole at its most basic is just mashed avocado with some lemon juice, finely chopped onion, pinch salt, pinch chilli and if you have tomato, finely chopped tomato. Goes well with a handful fresh chopped coriander (or parsley).

ironically, i just made a batch of guacamole.. lets see. into a food processor i put: 2 soft avocados, stoned and peeled, a green chilli, bunch of coriander, some lime juice, seasoning, half a red onion and a spring onion. I really just put them in the processor, pulse till its pureed, then taste and add more as i feel the need. When i get a mix i like, i stop. :) some people like to put tomato in too. i don't. up to you. you're the one what's eating it!

I just mash together avacado, tomato and finely chopped red onion, really simple and tasty.

I prefer to really finely dice my avocado, gives it a more interesting texture.

I normally use one avocado, one tomato, two spring onions, all very finely diced and season with lime juice, tabasco and salt and pepper.

I usually add a couple of spoonfuls of low fat mayo to mine. It helps to reduce the calories, and makes it go further. I like a little bit of garlic powder, a sprinkle of chili powder, dash of lime juice and a roughly cut up tomato. Yum.
  • Hi, I made guacomole last night and just mashed together ripe avocado with sweet chilli sauce. There was none left so I think a success. :o

    Good idea, thank you!

From now on I shall add a couple of spoonfuls of very low fat fromage frais (this is counted as a 'free' food in the diet I am currently doing) so I can enjoy guacamole without guilt!

I only roughly mash, as we like it to have some texture.
